What questions to ask at the end of an interview?

Student: Sir, is it necessary to ask questions at the end of an interview? 

Me: Yes, definitely. What do you feel in this regard?

Student: Even I feel that it’s important. But what kind of questions can be asked? I always get confused!

This is one question that I get repeatedly from students across multiple colleges of DU.

As the placement season is kicking in, students are confused as to what questions are good to be asked at the end of an interview.

In my opinion, it is very important that you ask questions from the interviewer as well, especially when they ask you, “Do you have any questions?”

This is because:

– It shows your interest in the organization.
– It shows that you are inclined towards the job profile/role.
– It showcases you as an intrigued and curious individual.

What questions can you ask?

1) What day-to-day responsibilities does the job entail?
– Curiosity about the work environment, responsibilities, culture, etc.

2) How would my performance be measured in this role?
– Motivation to work harder with high-performance metrics.

3) What all departments and teams are there in my role?
– Willingness to know the people around you, and the structure of the organization, and the role.

4) What challenges are you facing currently in this role?
– Wanting to know the barriers so that you can overcome them at later stages.

5) How would you rate your experience with this company?
– Curiosity to know about the company’s culture and environment.

6) What are the next steps? Are there any follow-ups required?
