GD Preparation

Students often prepare too much for their placement interviews, but they usually forget the first mass elimination round, which is the “Group Discussion”

Follow Simple Tips to Ace Group Discussion Round:

1) Begin with your strongest point.
– This drives others’ attention towards you.

2) Body language.
– Sit straight.
– Make eye contact with everyone.
– Show interest in what others have to contribute.

3) Do not make a Conclusion in the beginning.
– Discuss the pros and cons first.

4) Use minder points of disagreement.
– Example: “Adding another perspective to what you just said…”

5) Brush up your General Knowledge.
– Keep up with the current affairs.
– Keep reading the newspaper.

6) Make others comfortable.
– Give them a chance to speak.
– Agree with their points.
– Moderate the environment.
– If you notice someone who is quiet, give them a chance to speak.
– Do not get aggressive.

7) Use supporting examples and statistics.
– Quantitative facts always work.

8) Do not look at the moderator while speaking.
– Make sure to look at the other fellow candidates only.

9) Be a leader.
– Lead the conversation and the group.

10) Be audible enough for everyone in the room.

11) Pre-planning.
– Practice GD with your friends.
– Watch a few mock videos beforehand.

12) Be confident.
– Even if you got too late to speak up, try to give the conclusion at least.
– If you are uncomfortable with the topic, ask them to change it.

And always remember to Be yourself!

Hope this helps all the students.
